You'll be able to see the letters your Tamagotchi gets using this icon.
You'll find three different things here:
your Tamagotchi's [fortune],
their [regular letters], and
the [important events].
Fortune
If I'm not mistaken, they should get these fortunes a minute after they wake up and 4 p.m.
These should tell you how lucky your Tamagotchi will be in terms of money, love and health… according to the manual.
We don't know for sure what each thing means exactly quite yet.
What I have noticed is that you'll get 500 Gotchi points instead of 400 if you win a game while their money luck is good.
It also seems like your Tamagotchi will lose more weight with the games and gain less with snacks if their health luck is good on the V4.5.
I still have to research this more thoroughly. I'll update this section if I find out something new later.
If you have an adult Tamagotchi with bad luck, their idle animation (the one they do while you're not doing anything) will change… and you'll see them fall often.
Regular letters
Your Tamagotchi will get letters throughout the day.
There are three kinds of letter: gifts from the king, theft and a surprise envelope.
The first kind is what you'd expect, the Gotchi King shows up and gives your Tamagotchi a gift. It can be either money or an item.
A thief may show up and take some of your Gotchi points…
Lastly, there's the envelope with a surprise inside. It can contain one of these three things:
- A heart that will make your Tamagotchi happy and max out their happy hearts.
- A poop that will make your Tamagotchi mad and leave them with just one happy heart (V4.5) or none (V4).
- A snake that will scare your Tamagotchi and lower their happiness just like the poop does.
Important events
At the bottom, we have the important events, which are linked to your Tamagotchi's career and education.
They appear less frequently, since they only show up in specific moments in your Tamagotchi's life:
Enrolling in preschool
This letter will arrive shortly after your Tamagotchi becomes a toddler.
When you open it, your Tamagotchi will go to preschool and meet Ms. Frill
.
Then, they'll get their new bag and you'll be able to take them to preschool whenever you want through the connection menu.
Graduating preschool
This letter will arrive shortly after your Tamagotchi becomes a teen.
Your Tamagotchi will go to preschool one last time to bid farewell to their teacher.
Enroll in school
You'll get this letter right after your Tamagotchi graduates preschool.
Your Tamagotchi will go to school and you'll get to choose which teacher you want for your Tamagotchi. Each one teaches a class related to your Tamagotchi's skills:
- The intelligence (V4) or funny (V4.5) class, taught by Mr. Turtlepedia.
- The style (V4) or gorgeous (V4.5) class, taught by Ms. Flower.
- The kindness (V4) or spiritual (V4.5) class, taught by Mr. Canvas.
You'll always see Mr. Turtlepedia first, but you can change to another one using the Ⓐ button.
When you see the one that teaches the class you want your Tamagotchi to enroll into, press the Ⓑ button.
As soon as you've chosen a class, you'll be able to take your Tamagotchi to school through the connection menu whenever you want.
Graduating school
This letter will arrive one day after your Tamagotchi becomes an adult, more or less.
Your Tamagotchi will go to school one last time to graduate, just like they did when they left preschool.
Job hunt
They'll get this letter for the first time right after graduating school.
Your Tamagotchi will be able to try to get one of the five (randomly chosen) jobs offered to them.
The first three will be related to their highest skill, and the other two will be for the remaining skills.
First, you'll see your Tamagotchi in front of the first workplace they can apply to this time.
Press Ⓐ to take your Tamagotchi to the next place or Ⓑ to have them take an interview at the one that's currently being shown.
If you press Ⓒ or wait too long without doing anything, your Tamagotchi will get mad and lose that chance to find a job.
As soon as you choose a workplace, three interviewers will show up to examine your Tamagotchi.
All three of them must give them a "○" for your Tamagotchi to get the job.
If they get a single "×", they'll have to go try somewhere else.
Your Tamagotchi might fail to get a job in any of the five spots.
In this case, they'll get another letter later on and they'll be able to try again.
If they do get a job, they might still get one of these letters a couple of days later.
First, they'll see their current workplace. If you choose that one, your Tamagotchi will just go to work as usual, but,
if you choose a different place, your Tamagotchi will be able to take an interview and get another job.
I'm not completely sure what your Tamagotchi need to get a job.
It helps a lot if the skill related to the job is high (I read it should be over 80), but some of my Tamagotchis
have managed to get jobs with very low skills and other have failed with high skills.
It's very likely there's a factor we don't know about or it's random.
