Connection
This is the connection section.
You can connect your Keitai to other devices using this icon. Babies can't use it.
Since the phone app is long gone, you won't be able to connect your Keitai to a phone. 
These are the four main options.
We'll look into them in the order they appear on the menu:

K-Tama
With this option you can connect two Keitai series Tamagotchis.
You only have to line up their IR blasters and press B on one of them.
This is what they can do when they connect:
Gift exchange
The Tamagotchi on which the B button was pressed will get a gift from the other.
Their friendship level with the other Tamagotchi will change depending on the gift obtained:

If you connect a K-Tama to an Akai and one of them has a character that doesn't exist on the other device, Nazotchi will show up instead.
Competing for Gotchi points
Both Tamagotchis will leave with a random amount of Gotchi points (10, 20 or 30).
One of them will return with all the points, the other gets nothing.
The winner will get a Happy heart, but the other will lose it.
The friendship level will increase for both of them: +5 if they are a K-Tama, +10 if they are an Akai.
The winner is decided at random based on both Tamagotchis' luck level.
Marriage
After spending a day as an adult, your Tamagotchi will be able to marry other Tamagtochis via connection.
If their friendship level is as high as it can be, they'll get married and have babies the next time they connect. If it's lower, the chances of it happening are lower too.
A K-Tama can't marry an Akai, their environments are too different...

Luck
Luck is a value from 1 to 5 that Tamagotchis have from the moment they are born.
Its value is random on the first generation (2 - 4), but, in later generations, it depends on the parents' luck levels.
Luck tends to increase if Tamagotchis marry via connection.

Connection items
Some items will have a heart icon on the top-right corner when looking at them in the notebook icon.
These are the connection items. If you use the same one on two Keitai series Tamagotchis and connect them, they'll play a special connection game.
They'll get a Happy heart if they win, and lose it if they don't.
Their friendship will increase either way: +10 if they're a K-Tama, +15 if they're an Akai.
Each game works differently:

Toddler - Senior) Balloon game:
Choose one of the three balloons. After connecting, the balloons will inflate until they pop.
The Tamagotchi that gets the flower will win.
( 
Toddler - Senior) Ball game:
Press A or B as many times as you can before you run out of time.
The Tamagotchi that pressed the buttons the most will win.
( 
Teen - Senior) Tug of war:
Press A or B as many times as you can before you run out of time.
The Tamagotchi that pressed the buttons the most will win.
( 
Adult - Senior) Play the trumpet:
Play five notes on the trumpet pressing A (C), B (E) or C (G).
After connecting, each device will play the notes recorded on the other device.
You have to copy the sequence that just played. Both Tamagotchis can win this game.
Tamagotchi Plus
You can connect to a Tamagotchi Plus or a Connexion version (V2 - V4.5) with this option.
Your Tamagotchi won't be able to marry any of these other versions.
Games
There are two games:
Pop the balloon:
The Tamagotchi that manages to pop the balloon wins.
They'll have an advantage if their stomach is full.
Speed eating:
The Tamagotchi that manages to eat all the food wins.
They'll have an advantage if they're hungry.
Your Tamagotchi will have an advantage in both games if:
- They have few care mistakes.
- They are under 80g.
- They are 5 years (days) older than the opponent.
Your Tamagotchi will get a Happy heart if they win, and lose it if they don't. Their friendship level will increase a 5% regardless of the results.
Gift exchange
You will still be able to exchange gifts, but they'll be a bit different.
You won't be able to get items that get saved into your inventory.
Tamagotchis that don't appear on both the Keitai and the Plus will be replaced by Nazotchi.
Deka Tamagotchi
Many stores in Japan had huge Tamagotchis (Deka Tamagotchis) you could connect your Keitai to to buy items and play games.
You could buy whatever you wanted (except regional items from other regions) on the shopping Deka and
get up to 2000G playing with the games one.
But they were all removed several years ago...
You can still use this option if you have an Ouchi no Deka Tamagotchi, a Deka version that was actually sold for personal use.
You can buy items and play games with these, too. You can then send the items and Gotchi points you earn to your Keitai with this option.
Phone
The main feature of the Keitai was the possibility of connecting to a phone to buy items and get prizes.
The app is long gone, but, since we know how the passwords work, we can still use this option.
We get two options.
The first one is for mail (purchases and gifts), and the second one is for travelling and trading regional items.
Mail π«
We get two options again.
The first one allows us to input a password. You can buy any item or get any gift here.
The second one allowed us to connect to the phone app via IR... so, completely useless now. Always choose the first option here.

Or, if you want to have an experience more similar to the app, choose a category and generate a random password:

If you are already past the first generation, you can write the code that appears when you look at your previous Tamagotchi on the notebook icon to get Gotchi points down here.
You can do this three times per generation. You'll get a random amount of points between 500 and 1000.
You can also use the code you get when donating 1000 points to the King. A password to get his gifts will be generated.

Travel πΈ
We get two options again.
The first one is for travelling abroad and the second one for trading items.
You need a ticket to travel. Once you choose a ticket, your Tamagotchi will leave and come back a bit later with a souvenir.
You will then be shown a password. You could use this password on the phone app to see a photo of their trip.
Even if you don't do anything with this password, you'll lose the travel ticket and get the souvenir.
You need a regional item to trade items.
Once chosen, your Tamagotchi will take it to the trading plaza. You'll get a password for the phone app...
Press B a couple times and you'll see the same screen you see when choosing the mail option, letting you choose between password and IR.
After writing a valid password here, your Tamagotchi would return with a new item instead of the one they took.
These allowed players to get the items from other regions, but none of that matters now.
You can get all the regional items using the mail option anyway.
